A Little History…

The Mercer family have been producing pigs for 70 years. The Mercer family first started farming pigs in Harlaston, Staffordshire just after the First World War. Through the years their skills have been handed down and built upon through 4 generations of pig farmers.

Established in 2002 by Robert Mercer the unit now successfully supplies pigs to a wide range of local outlets who in turn supply the discerning customer who wants to know where and how their food is produced. With the help of families experience and Robert’s forward thinking and knowledge the unit at Packington has gradually grown

Our Unique Philosophy

Packington Pork is a unique concept in pig farming. Our philosophy is to embrace the low-intensity production methods of a golden age in British Farming and produce superior quality and wonderful tasting pork for the discerning, informed, modern consumer. At a time where consumers are increasingly concerned over high-intensity production methods, additives, traceability and welfare of farm animals, Packington Pork provides a solution to these serious issues.

Packington aims to provide the very best locally produced pork that has an excellent eating quality, whilst being healthy and free of any additives, growth promoters or antibiotics. Our objective is to provide the consumer with the utmost food safety and traceability that they increasingly demand. We also are concerned for the welfare of our animals and so our totally free-range methods are very important to us and we take complete pride in our RSPCA freedom food accreditation.

The Business

Packington Pork employs a team of 6 onsite farmers and is backed by the administrative and business team of its parent company Mercer Farming.
