The Farm

Space to act naturally

Situated on the A51 between Whittington Golf Club and Hopwas Woods, Packington Fields Farm provides an excellent location for rearing pigs.

The farm houses over 600 pigs across 200 acres. The farm environment is especially important in the life of our pigs because they are bred, reared and finished totally outdoors. This differentiates us between the majority of free-range pig farms, whose livestock spends a third of its life outdoors and then the remaining two thirds inside. We know from our customers that our way of breeding and rearing pigs makes for a better quality of pork. Packington Fields Farm provides enough freedom for pigs to play, grow and act naturally and exhibit their instinctive characteristics.

Perfect for pigs of all ages

The farm is premium, well drained grassland perfect for raising the very best pigs. Each sow has their own well-bedded shelter, known as an arc. They give birth and raise their litter of piglets in these comfortable and safe surroundings. However, the sow is free to move in and out of their own shelter as they desire. They often leave their piglets in the warmth of arc while they go out and root, feed or exercise. When the young piglets are big enough to jump out of the arc they are free to enjoy the pasture land like their mothers.

Young pigs live in a kennel which they share with a small number of pigs of a similar age. The kennel provides shelter but pigs still have the freedom to move outdoors.

As they get mature, pigs are moved to the “tents”, which are larger and provide shelter for a number of pigs. As at all other stages of its life the pig has complete freedom to move inside or out at their leisure.
